Topper’s Mountain 2015 Bricolage Blanc $30
4.5 stars

“BRICOLAGE is a term for a creation from a diverse range of things and fits this wine and could be applied to the career of Mark Kirkby, proprietor of Topper’s Mountain. An engineer by profession and partner in a Sydney engineering business, he’s been involved in cotton growing, citrus juicing and olive oil ventures and now Topper’s Mountain vineyard at Tingha.

The wine is a blend of 46 per cent chardonnay, 30 per cent barrel-fermented sauvignon blanc, 16 per cent gewurztraminer and nine per cent petit manseng. It is green-tinted straw, honeysuckle-scented and displays apricot front-palate flavour. The middle palate has lychee, peach and lemon curd characters with a whisper of cashew oak and a slatey acid finish.”
