When we re-launched Topper’s Mountain in 2010 we wanted to come up with a label design that truly speaks of the vineyard origin. The soil is bright orange because of the high iron content and we found a lot of old objects that the miners had left behind many years ago when the area was a booming tin mining community. So we incorporated the soil colour and the objects found around the vineyard into our label design. Topper’s Mountain is a range of alternate variety wines that are rare in Australia but more common in the Old Wine World. Our production is small, only a few hundred cases per batch and all bottles are individually numbered. Our beautiful wines are handcrafted to complement traditional wine offerings and to present a point of difference introducing interesting varieties that Australia can provide but is not renowned for. You find our wines at top end restaurants, hotels and fine wine merchants.
The Submarines
Our Submarine range is neither fined, nor filtered, producing the most, honest, lo-fi and vegan wines, as close to what nature intended as possible. We love to work exclusively with what the vineyard gives us each vintage, so in our Submarines there are no added:
- Acid
- Yeasts
- Enzymes
- Tannins
With no additions, minimal manipulation and bottled with minimal preservatives, this new low-intervention offering might just be our most experimental range yet. So welcome aboard HMAS Topper’s Terroir, we hope you enjoy our submarines range; now available in pink, white and red.
