Finder 2023 Topper’s Mountain Nebbiolo

Just like your dad, 2023 Topper’s Mountain Nebbiolo has a distinct voice. Shaped by our high-altitude site and long, cool season, it ripens slowly, building perfume, tension and structure while preserving the variety’s unmistakable elegance and sense of place.
Our Nebbiolo is a translucent, pale garnet. Almost the hue you’d expect from a light Pinot Noir. Don’t be fooled, this is a wine of real structure and depth.
Topper’s Mountain 2023 Nebbiolo is defined by brightness, savoury depth and vibrant, sour cherry freshness. Harvested unusually late in the first week of May 2023, the fruit achieved beautiful flavour development while retaining natural tension and energy. Aromas of forest strawberry, sour cherry, dried rose and subtle tarry earthiness unfold with air. Medium-bodied and already disarmingly approachable, the palate shows precision and poise. Twelve months’ maturation in Italian botte has shaped fine, tight tannins and enhanced textural harmony. Charming, energetic and refreshing, this Nebbiolo is equally suited to contemplative drinking or alongside hearty Italian dishes such as pasta with ragù.
Hopefully dad has a bit of patience left too, because traditionally in Piedmont, a Barolo is typically not ready to drink for a decade after harvest. Ours can be savoured, now or opt for the Keeper Nebbiolo if you’re looking for some serious cellaring potential. Both are wines with genuine cellaring potential. Buy dad a case, drink two bottles on Father’s day. Then, if you can resist, lay the rest down for three to seven years to see what it becomes.

Our 2023 Topper’s Mountain Tempranillo Blanco is exactly what you’d expect from Topper’s Mountain: bright, textural, and full of character. The variety’s fresh acidity and enticing aromatics make it incredibly versatile. It is equally at home as a fresh, vibrant chilled white or as a wine with genuine aging potential.
Tempranillo Blanco provides structure to match texture, and can cut through richness and fat. It’s got notes of pithy, stone fruit, ripe citrus, herbs, low aromatics, textural weight, and enough backbone to handle food that would steamroll lighter whites.
One of a kind, and a bit of a cowboy: Touriga & Tintas

The Topper’s Mountain 2024 vintage Touriga & Tintas is a blend of three infamous Portugese varieties, handpicked and fully de-stemmed.
“Touriga” refers to Touriga Nacional — the most revered red grape in Portugal, the cornerstone of vintage Port and increasingly the basis for exceptional dry table wines. “Tintas” is the collective term for a cluster of Portuguese red varieties traditionally used alongside it: in Topper’s Mountain’s case, this includes Tinta Cão, a prized Indigenous grape from the Douro, alongside Tinta Roriz (the Portuguese name for Tempranillo, also grown extensively in the Iberian Peninsula under various aliases). And finally Tinta Roriz.
What makes our current Topper’s Mountain Touriga & Tintas particularly fascinating is how it’s made. Inspired by ancient Georgian traditions, we worked with qvevri – traditional clay amphorae; large vessels buried in the earth to ferment and age the wine with extended skin contact.
Bottled without fining and filtration. It is straight forward, minimal intervention winemaking at it’s best! At Topper’s Mountain Wines, we also farm without pesticides or synthetic fertilisers, building soil health through organic practices.
